Summer is an opportunity. It’s a time for kids to explore, to learn, to try new things, to have fun. It’s a chance for kids to spend time with old and new friends, and to find out a little more about who they are and who they want to be. This summer, I hope you will take the opportunity to join us for all this and more at the first year of Yalla Balagan, the reimagined teen travel camp at J&R.
In my own camp-age years, I found so much joy in camp experiences that let me dive deep into something specific that I loved. At Yalla Balagan, we’ll be doing just that – diving deep into exploring Pittsburgh and beyond through the lens of Jewish values, with special chances for campers to become leaders.
It’s hard to decide which piece of the summer I’m most excited about. Trekking through New York, Cleveland and Washington DC? Or creating our own Yalla Balagan space at J&R and leading activities for younger campers? Or maybe learning about the power of service and social action with organizations like Repair the World? Every day will bring something new, with plenty of adventures – and plenty of tasty snacks!
This blend of on-site camp time, travel and leadership development makes Yalla Balagan a unique camp experience in Pittsburgh. We’re looking forward to an amazing first summer, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
See you in June!
